From Our Own Correspondent.. Messrs A. Stewart and W. G. Terry arc on a short fishing trip to Castlepoint, Wairarapa. Mr. 0. Walton has been appointed secretary to tho Nireaha Co-op. Dairy Company. Mr. M. N. Sutcr has been appointed manager of tho Nireaha and Stirling Co-op. stores. Grading of milk has commenced at tho Nireaha cheoso factory. Tho whito cabbage butterfly has arrived at Nireaha. Wo hope, after being used to the English climate, meal conditions will induco tho butterfly to depart. Electricity still continues to progress. Two more Nireaha houses arc electrically equipped. To onset the increase in taxation, threo householders have dispensed with their telephones.

Miniature R;::e Club. Tho annual meeting of the Nireaha Miniature Rifle Club was < lield in the Nireaha hall on Tuesday evening, April 12, tho president (Mr. it. Farrow) presiding over a good attendance of both lady and men members. In reviewing tlio past season's working, tho president voiced his pleasure of tho manner in which tho local club had progressed. The competition in the EusU district for tho Dyrno shield was now iirmly established since its inauguration two years ago. This added great incentive to local members, as it provided them with some goal at which to aim. Although the Nireaha Club had lost the Byrno shield during the past season, many very enjoyable matches had ensued with other clubs, and the standard of. shooting had been high, and bad, to a certain extent, improved. Special thanks were duo to those who had provided cars for transport of tho members in the Bush competition, and also to tho local ladies for their entertainment of visiting teams and the providing of refreshments at the weekly club shoots. lii welcoming the incoming committee, Mr. Farrow stated ho felt assured that they would have a very successful year, as the interest in miniature rifle shooting was becoming more intense every year. Tho following otticers were elected for the ensuing year: Patron, Mr. J. E. Nicolson; president, Mr. R. Farrow (re-elected); vice-presi-dent, Mr. S. J. Sigvertscn (re-elected); secretary, Mr. J. Hawkins; ammunition secretary, Mr. It. J. Lawrence; armourer, Mr. S. R. Blcwctt; management committee,- Miss G. Segvertscn, Mrs. Thomason, Mrs. Petersen, Messrs Wm. Manscn,- It. Lawrence, W. Drysdale, president, vice-president and secretary; rango officers, Mrs. Thomason, Messrs Wm. Manscn and W. W. Drysdale; handicapper and selector, Mr. R. Thomasen;| auditor, Mr. J. D. Daysh; delegates to Bush Association, Messrs R. Farrow and L. G. Segvertscn. The balance sheet, showing a small credit balance, was adopted as read. This was considered very satisfactory in view of the l expense involved in the purchase of another rifle, hall hire, supper expenses, etc. Subscriptions for the season were fixed at 5s for men and Is for ladies. It was decided to hold tho first shoot on tho first Thursday in May. Other small matters pertaining to the management of tho club wero discussed, among which was the decision to decide shoots-off (in view of the large amount of extra time involved) by card cutting. Prior to the close of the meeting the president voiced the regret of the club at the resignation of the past secretary, Mr. W. W. Drysdale. Mr. Drysdale had acted as secretary almost since tho inception of the club, and much of the credit for tho cine present position was due to his capabilities as secretary. A hearty vote for his past services was carried amidst, applause. A vote of thanks was then accorded the chairman, after which full justice was accorded an excellent supper, provided by the ladies. Hockey Club’s Annual Meeting.

Tho annual meeting of the Nireaha Ladies' Hockey Club was held in the Nireaha hall on Tuesday evening, April 12. The president, Mr. It. Farrow, presided over a fair attendance of members. The president, in reviewing the past season's operations, congratulated tho members on their team work.' Although the team had not won the main laurels, they reached fourth position in tho Bush competition, and with a little more perseverance would make better progress during tho coming season.

Thanks were due to tho ladies for tlicir help in providing afternoon teas, to those who had put their cars at the disposal of the players, and to all who had in any way helped the club to auimount tho difficulties always attendant on a country dug. Tho following officers were elected: President, Mr. R. Earrow; vice-presidents, Messrs >S. R. Blcwctt, H. Hansen, J. Fafeeta, M. Fafccta; J. Spring, R. Payne, A. W. Dudson, J. P. Segvertscn, D. Butler, J. A. Daysh and R. C. Holyoake; secretary, Miss J. Payne; club captain, Miss G. Segvertscn; vicc-captain, Miss A. Blcwctt. The balanco sheet, showing a

credit of approximately £3, was adopted as read. It was decided to enter one team in tho Bush competition. The roport of the delegates to the union was received. Various means of raising funds for tho club were discussed, it being decided to immediately inaugurate a rafflo for a box of chocolates. Votes of thanks were then accorded tho past secretary (Miss A. Blewett) for her services to the club, and to the chairman, after which the meeting was closed.
