Effortless Win by Nightmarch
Midinette Beats Tea Trader Gold Dawn and Consent Just Win A rare exhibition of galloping was staged by the brilliant Nightmarch ■when he won the Awapuni Cup jit the opening yesterday of the autumn meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club. Nightmarch made no race of this always interesting weight-for-age contest, for he was the only horse in it at the finish. Midinette narrowly defeated Tea Trader and Inflation in the Sires’ Produce Stakes, and the main handicaps were wen by Geld Dawn and Consent. It was a day of thrilling finishes},., a feature of the racing at Awapuni to which sportsmen have become accustomed. The weather was blustery and this affected the attendance, which, however, was fairly good. The course was in good order, but on the dead side, Totalisator investments were £9929 10s, against £16,753 for the same day last year, a decrease of £5823 10s.
