Manawatu A. and P. Association
MEETING OF GENERAL. COMMITTEE, The monthly meeting of the general committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Association was held yesterday, Mr. M. A. Eliott (president.) being in the chair. There was an attendance of about 35 members.
The Manawatu Co-operative Herd Testing Association wrote expressing appreciation of the association’s offer of the free use of the Showgrounds for the purpose of holding the first marked calf fair to be held in this district, but regretting that as the required number of entries was not received, the offer could not be availed of. It was hoped, however, that the attempt to launch the fair would prepare members for a similar function next year. The National Mortgage arid Agency Company of New Zealand, Ltd., advised that its special prize would bo available again.—The writers are to be thanked.
In forwarding an apology for absence at the annual meeting, on account of another engagement, tho Mayor of Palmerston North (Mr. A. E. Mansford) wrote regretting that, oiving to the constant daily demand made on his time by the large number of unemployed, he was unable to attend meetings. Ho had always taken, and would continue to take, a keen interest in the association, and anything he could do to further the interests of the organisation lie would be. most happy to do at all times. Tho Corriedale Sheep Society w-rotc asking that recommendations of judges for the Royal Agricultural Society’s consideration be made forthwith. —It was reported that there are no Corriedale judges in the district. The retiring finance committee— Messrs Jos. Batchelar, M. A. Conway, L. H. Collinson, .T. F. Carter, R. D. Knight, H. Y. Lethbridge, ,T. Linklater, M. L. B. Wall and D. Collis—was reelected.
