The Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association yesterday decided lo support a request by the Hawke’s Bay Association that Mr. L. Acland, president of the New Zealand Sheep Owners’ Federation, be appointed to represent the primary producers at the Ottawa Conference. In proposing that Mr. Alan Skcrman be a life honorary church ofiicer of All Saints’ Church at tho annual meeting of parishioners last evening, Mr. O. Monrad said that on looking back over tho years they must all realise the wonderful work their dear old friend had done for the church. Although Mr. Skcrman had removed from the parish, ho was often present at tho services. Mr. Monrad went on to say that in the vicissitudes that must overtake such an organisation it would appear that as people’s warden Mr. Skcrman had carried the church on his back. This had been a tremendous strain. In making this proposal .Mr. Monrad said it was with the idea that Mr. Skcrman should bo ablo to take part in the deliberations at any of the church organisations as he desired. Mr. Harwood seconded tho motion and said tho parishioners would regard the appointment as an act of appreciation of tho long and valued services of Mr. Skerman.
