Ten Million Trade Balance
HUGE DROP IN IMPORTS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. An excess of exports over imports of £10,400,000 was revealed in the trade returns for the year ended March 31. Exports were £2,353,000 less than for the corresponding month last year and imports were down £216,000. Eor the month of March, 1932, the figures were: Exports, £2,768,134; imports, £1,872,039. For the three months the figures were: Exports, £7,496,719; imports, £5,849,283. The exports for the 12 months were £33,581,877, nearly six million less than the preceding financial year, and imports were down by more than £15,000,000, the value for the 12 months being £23,165,500. ft Export values show a decrease of £23,572,466 011 those for 1929, while imports are less than half of those of two years ago. Export values are declared f.o.b. values in terms of New Zealand currency and imports are valued in terms of the exporting country plus 10. per cent.
