BEST LETTER.

t Bainesse. Dear Hub,—l am writing a few lines to accompany the Skilltest, which I hope is correct as it took me quite a long while to solve. The weather has been very dismal here lately, but we are very thankful for the rain as the garden was drying up again. I have been kept occupied preparing a new strawberry bed, as the previous one was in a most inconvenient part of tho garden. We did not get many strawberries lost year, but we are hoping for a more successful crop this year. There are still a .few mushrooms round this district but they are by no means plentiful. My two small brothers celebrated their birthdays recently. One was nine on April 1, and the other was seven on Priday. They each had a birthday cake bearing tho respective number of coloured candles. Wo have woodwork at school onco a week and at present I am making a work basket out of varnished wood. Tho football season will be commencing soon. I shall be very glad a.s it will be a change from playing cricket. On Saturday my brother and I rode our pony, Dolly, to visit some friends who livo five miles away. In order to get.there wo had to follow tracks which led over numerous hills, and if you are not accustomed to the various tracks you are liable to lose your way. While we were there we stood on the top of a high hill and from there we obtained an excellent view of Kapiti Island, It is quite evident that autumn is hero now as the leaves on the trees are becoming.variegated and some of them have already fallen to the ground. Well, dear Hub, as this is all I can think of at present I shall close with love from Rufus. You have given us an excellent letter this week, Rufus. 1 was most interested in all your news and I am sure the Cogs will be also.
