Cause of Phar Lap's Death Revealed
FERMENTATION RESULTING IN HEART FAILURE. United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. SAN FRANCISCO, April 14. The Hooper medical foundation of the University of California reported to-day that Phar Lap died of colic 01 acute indigestion. His condition, the report said, probably resulted from the fermentation of food in his stomach, causing bloating or distention of the muscles of the heart and stopping that organ. The chemical analysis, they said, revealed hwo milligrams of a deadly poison in Phar Lap’s stomach —about the normal quantity of this poison to bo found in the amount Oj. green food that Phar Lap had eaten. This amount should have been benoiicial, the pathologists said.
