Sent to Gaol for Two Years
Robert John Bolton, alias Craig, 23 years of age, appeared before Air. J. L. Stout, S.M., at the Palmerston North Alagistrate’s Court yesterday, charged with having been found by night on enclosed premises without lawful excuse, and with having stolen a bicycle valued at £4. On Bolton pleading guilty, Senior Detective Quirkc told the Court that accused had previously been convicted of a variety of offences and had; six months ago, been released on license from a Borstal institution after 18 months’ detention. He had been found at night in the act of breaking into a store and had run away, later surrendering himself to the police. ‘‘You have a very bad record,” said his Worship, in sentencing accused to one month’s hard labour for stealing the bicycle, and to three months, to be followed by two years’ reformative deten'.tion, on the other charge.
