TRIP TO AVELLINGTON FOR WEEK-END. Alany folk in various districts have expressed warm appreciation of the “community service” given by the Railways Department with very cheap excursion trains. The management is working ou the principle of making the people’s money go further—a pleasant innovation in these times. On Saturday, April IG, it will be the turn of residents of Hawke’s Bay and Palmerston North to enjoy a week-end trip—a comfortable journey by rail to Wellington. The excursion train will leave Napier at 11.20 a.m., Palmerston North 3.3 G p.m., stopping on route at the principal Hawke’s Bay stations, and is scheduled to reach AVcilington at G. 22 p.m. Excursionists may return by the G.O p.m. train on Sunday, or the 9.20 a.m. AA’cllington-Napicr express on Monday.
The exceptionally low fares (single fare for return journeys) being charged and the easy opportunity offered to Palmerston North citizens to pay calls ou their friends and relations in the central city, or to have a variety of amusement and very interesting sightseeing, may bo expected to induce many people to make the week-end trip.
