Women's Growing Interest In Important Affairs
"I have been pleased t.o find the great interest taken by the women of the land in matters of tho highest importance, for its moral and spiritual standing,” said Airs. Higgins, wife of General E. J. Higgins, when speaking at Wellington. “1 have been told that in so many phases of life in New Zealand the women shoulder responsibilities, carry burdens, and share with their husbands in the tasks and toils of life,” she said. "This is certainly how it should be, and I am convinced that such active partnership, -in tho daily round, will help in producing the right kind of family and communal life. After the touch with the life of the people which I have been privileged to have, I confidently anticipate a future for this fair land, which will place it high up in the list of (ho successful nations forming the British Commonwealth. Its opportunities will increase when tho present wave of economic pressure has passed—and it surely will pass—and I can visualise an increase ot happy conditions, and an even more rapid advance in all that mako for a nation’s true greatness.”
