Broadcasting in Palmerston North
(To the Editor.) Sir _As a keen listener I have been watching the broadcasting position closely, more particularly that pertaining to the local stations, and I want to voice a protest against the action of the authorities in prohibiting Mr. Kyle, of 2ZO, from conducting a session on the Tuesday of each week, as he applied for. I have interviewed Mr. Kyle over the position and while he feels that he is not receiving justice in the matter, he is not prepared to make any statement in the meantime. The excuse given by the authorities in refusing permission was “that no further extension of hours was to be given to any B class station until the report of the coverage commission -was finalised, ” yet we find that the other local B station has been given the very samo night as applied for by Mr. Kyle, and I understand from the announcement made by that station that these Thursday night relays is to be a regular thing in future.
It would appear from these facts that Mr. Kyle is being subjected to grossly unfair dealing, and X trust that something will be done by the listeners to see that this popular station is given a fair hearing. I am quite prepared to help in any way possible. —I am, etc., “LISTENER-IN.”
