New Clue in Blomfield Murder
YOUNG MAN’S STORY. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. In connection with the resumption next week of the inquest concerning the murder of Arthur James Blomfield, chemist, on October 31, it is reported that a new development has occurred. It is understood that the police learned by chance of a young man who has told a story that on the night of the murder he was in a hotel when two men he knew entered asking l'or a drink. Both were agitated and in conversation one allegedly said they had settled Blomfield. Their story was that they had gone to town in a car and one called on Blomfield to arrange for the easier payment of a debt they owed. He returned to the car and told his companion of Blomfield’s refusal to meet the request. It is alleged that taking a spanner from under the seat he declared that ho would make Blomfield see ■ reason and returned to the shop.
