All Saints' Branch Of Mothers' Union

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of tho All Saints’ branch of tho Mothers’ Union was held in tho Girls’ Club room yesterday afternoon, there being a largo attendance of mombors. Rev. P. 'Wiltshire presided and oponed tho mooting With prayer, following tho singing of a hvmn.

Annual Report. In the annual report presented, gratification was expressed that the attendance and interest of members had been well maintained. Ten meetings had boon held in the Girls’ Club loom and for 'the February mooting mombers had, at the kind invitation of Mrs. H. G. Bagnnll, spent an enjoynblo afternoon in lior garden, with the added interest of competitions, etc. Two admission servicos had been held ia April and October, twelve new' members being admitted. Grateful thanks wore expressed to the following speakers who had assisted to make the meetings helpful and interesting: Canon Woodward, Revs. Goertz, AVallis, Howloy, Missos Ashton, Seifert and Lee. Thanks were also expressed to those ladies who had assisted with musical items on various occasions. invitations had been received during the year from the Marton branch, the League of Mothers, Men’s Society, tho Y.W.C.A. and the Girls’ Club. At the invitation of Bishop Sprott, Mesdamcs Rush, Mclver and Metcalfe had represented the branch at a combined meeting of Mothers’ Unions held in Wellington, which had been addressed by Her Excellency, Lady Bledisloc. Regret was expressed that two members, Mesdamcs Bcswiek and Rule, had removed to Wanganui. Thanks were tendered to the different hostesses who had attended to the afternoon teas. The balance-sheet, presented by the treasurer, Mrs. Bridcn Jones, disclosed a credit of £2 11s 6d which was considered very The report and balance-sheet were adopted.

Election of Officers. Officers were elected for the ensuing year as follow: President, Mrs. G. Woodward; vice-presidents, Mesdamcs G. Dawick, L. A. Abraham, Hew'itt, P. Wiltshire, 11. G. Bagnall; lion, secretary, Mrs. H. Endcliffc; hon. treasurer, Mrs. E. Eckersley; committee, Mesdames F. Wollerman, Martin, Briden Jones, Byrue, Weeks, Taylor, Brougham, Blocklev. It was decided to elect a visiting committee at tho first meeting of tho general committee. A discussion took place as to the allocation of the credit balance, the renewal of crockery supplies being suggested. A "cup and saucer” afternoon was also proposed, but these matters were left in the hands of the incoming committee. A letter from Canon Woodward was read to tho moeting expressing regret that lie and Mrs. Woodward wero unable to be present that afternoon and extending best wishes for a happy meeting.

Other apologies for absence were received from Mesdamcs L. A. Abraham, Rush, Mclver, Gray, Sutherland and Middlemiss. Enthusiastic reference to the wonderful work of Mrs. Metcalfe as secretary to tho Union over a period cf six years was made by Mrs. Wiltshire, and also to tho sorvices of Mrs. BridenJcnes as treasurer. Thanks to these ladies were carried by acclamation. Thanks to the Press concluded the business of the meeting. The usual dainty afternoon tea was served, tho hostesses being Mcsdames Dawick, Weeks, Ax and Lemberg.
