MUCH GOOD DONE IN CANTERBURY Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Rain in Canterbury has been bountiful in tho past three days, beginning with a light, misty drizzle and continuing in increasing intensity for so long and with such warm air temperatures ■that it has done tho greatest possiblo good. It has penetrated tho parched ground thoroughly, and already there is startling ovidcnce of fresh growth of grass. It will also mako ploughing possiblo. Tho total fall in Christchurch was 2.74 in. Northward tho fall was about tho same, but it decreased to about 1.5 in. towards tho west. Methvcn and the Rakaia basin had 3.Din.
