WILLIAM HAINES IN “TAILOR MADE MAN.” William Haines, big business, love, financial troubles of a national and a formula for prosperity —these are all woven into a lilting, scintillating comedy in which runs a charming little love story. These aro the ingredients of “A Tailor Made Man,” Motro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s latest William Haines starring vehicle. Haines plays a smart young man who is not 1 satisfied with his job. Ho discovers a new “racket.” The world is full of fellows with the same story which picks up the comical Haines as a pants pressor in a tailor shop. He has had better jobs but temporarily is working at the only one he could land. But he has real ideas. So ho “borrows” a dress suit left to be pressed, invades a social function to meet a merchant prince, and manages to impress the financial nabob with his ideas. He lands a big executive position as a result, and proceeds to revolutionise business in “repairing” a financial stringency. When ho gets tired ho tells the truth about it all, but .meantime they have found out that his ideas were right —and he gets the job back. Also the girl. Dorothy Jordan plays opposite the debonair hero of “Alias Jimmy Valentine” and “Way Out West” and other hits, and repeats her successes in “Min and Bill,” and “Devil May Care.” Joseph Cawthorn, veteran of stage and screen, appears as tho old German'tailor, Buber. Marjorie Rambeau, Hale Hamilton, William Austin, Walter Walker, lan Keith, Martha Sleeper, Hcdda Hopper, Joan Marsh, Henry Armetta, and other clever people are in the cast. Tho dramatic highlights include the stealing of tho dress suit, the winning of the tailor’s daughter from the academic rival, the big meeting and threatened strike in the store, and the dramatic exposure of the impostor wdio saves the day, and the comical but romantic love scene in the tailor shop. Haines plays tho role and many of his usual wisecracking tricks, and makes a very convincing and appealing figure as the youngster who tries to do something in the world and carry out an ideal.
