Novel Uses for Mirror Glass
Wo may not be fond of hanging our walls with pompous gilt-framed mirrors, but wo have discovered many ways of using mirror glass to admirable advantage. You can, for example, have it set m placo of tiles, on either side of tho fireplace, and also on the hearth. Until you have seen the fascinating play of firelight on tho glass, you can have no notion of how successful this plan may bo. If you happen to possess a largo, old-fashioned console mirror, a handy glass-cutter should be able to cut the requisite patterns from it at small expense. When you are installing sholves for china, glass or even small books, put mirror glass at the back, and you will be delighted with tho liveliness and interest it will give to tho arrangement. Instead of being a “d-oad’’ corner it will prove a very vital ono. Lay a strip of mirror glass along the mantelpiece and place upon it glass bowls in amethyjst, sapphire blue and quartz pink. The reflections will bo decorative in the extreme. Even cheap glass looks well with this little attention.
Use a circular piece of mirror glass for a table-centre, and put your best pieco of silver on it, or else a tall vase with tendrils of ivy hanging over the edge.. Flickering wax candles grouped around the circle will light it up and make tho whole scheme appear alive.
