Record savings in Road Costs
A record in low road costs is claimed by the surveyor of Swaffham in Norfolk. All the classified main roads were newly tarred during the summer at a cost of not more than 1.59 pence per square yard, and two roads were actually treated for only a penny a square yard. “I do not know,’’’ states Mr. C. Frobisher, the surveyor, “of any county council in the United Kingdom that executes tarring at this figure. ’ ’
