Loyal Manawatu Lodge

The usual fortnightly meeting oi Loyal Manawatu Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., was held on Thursday evening, when the N.G., Sister Sutton, presided over a fairly large gathering of members.. It was decided to accept an invitation to visit Loyal Manchester Lodge. A challenge from Court Hinemoa to a game of bowls for the U.F.S. Shield, to be played at the Foresters hall on Monday, was accepted.

A request from Loyal Oroua Lodge for the postponement of the game of bowls versus Loyal Manawatu to March 15 was agreed to. A vote of condolence with the relatives of the late Bro. Horniblow was passed, the lodge standing in silence. P.G. Bro. Stevenson reported on the

meeting of the Friendly Societies’ Council. Four candidates were proposed for membership, two of them being for the juvenile lodge. P.G. Bro. Sherman presented the sick visitors’ report, which was received with thanks. The lodge wrns handed over to the social committee for half an hour's community singing. The sorig leaders were Sisters Sutton and Monroe, senr. and junr., and Bros. Doy and Barber. Sister Bearsley was pianist. Two candidates for membership were elected. One was initiated during the evening and the other will be initiated next lodge night. Lodge closed at 9.30, when an adjournment was made to a dainty supper prepared by the sisters.- The remainder of the evening was spent in singing, dancing and bowls.
