Wholemeal Cake.
Mix 6oz of wholemeal flour with 4oz of whito flour and rub into them two ounces each of dripping and butter. Add a heaped teaspoonful of baking powder, 4oz. of sugar, -Jib of seedless raisins, 2oz chopped candied peel, and half a teaspoonfui mixed spice. Moisten with a beaten egg and sufficient milk to form rather a stiff dough, blend thoroughly and bake in a steady oven till cooked through.
