Murder Confessed
TORTURE BY JAPANESE. REVENGE ON EMPLOYER. NEW YORK, Dec. 25. Poughkeepsie was the scene of a curious murder to-day. Gcntro Akiyama, a Japanese butler, enraged at losing his position, killed John Schatz, a wealthy manufacturer. Mr. Florence Carozzo, who was Schatz’s companion in his mansion, told a grisly tale of torture. She said that when the Japanese returned from his last evening evening out, Schatz asked •dm to prepare some sandwiches, and discharged him upon his refusal to make them. At daylight this morning the Japanese invaded their bedroom, struck Schatz over the head with a bottle, and then invited his woman companion to watch the torture. The Japanese twisted a butcher’s knife in his employer’s mouth, and smashed his fingers into pulp with a hammer. In a subsequent struggle a telephone instrument was knocked off the table, and central exchange heard screams and called the police. The Japanese confessed his efime. -
