Hunger-Mad Wolves in Europe
SOLDIERS’ DESPERATE BUT HOPELESS FIGHT.

Europe is in the grip < f a severe winter and hunger is making the wolves particularly daring. A pack attacked two Jugo-Siav soldiers in a lonely pass near Kichevo. The soldiers fought with bayonets killing five and wounding many but were finally overcome and devoured. Two wolves driven from the Carpathians into the valley attacked a goatherd who was going home with his little daughter. Tho father though severely bitten, beat off one wolf with a cudgel but the other killed the child.
