HONORARY SEAT FOR MR BRUCE United Press Association.-— By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright. Received Friday, 9.5 p.m. MELBOURNE, Dec. 31'. Mr Lyons is unable officially to announce tho new Federal Ministry owing to the absence of replies to invitations telegraphed to prospective members of Cabinet. However, it, has been ascertained that tho allotment of portfolios has resulted:— Prime Minister and Federal Treasurer: Mr. Lyons. Attorney-General, Minister of External Affairs, and deputy-leader of the Government: Mr. Latham. Minister of Defeneo and leader of tho Government in the Senate: Sir George peace. Minister of Trade and Customs: Mr. Gullctt. Postmaster - General and probable Minister of Works and Railways: Mr. Fenton. Minister of Markets: Mr. Hawker. Minister of Homo Affairs: Mr. Parkhill. Minister of Health: Mr. Marr. Vice-president of tho Executive Council and probable Minister in Charge of Development: Senator McLachlan. Four Honorary Ministers are to be selected from Messrs. Bruce, Massey, Green, Francis and Perkins. Mr. Lyons, as leader of the United Australia Party, issues a Now Year message, in which he describes 1931 as a year of hardship and disappointment, and expresses the opinion that the New Year brings brighter days. He appeals to the people of the Commonwealth to face it with courage, a full sense of their responsibility, and with a determination to restore conditions of prosperity and greater happiness. He assures the people that the new Government will leave no stone unturned to get as many men back to employment as humanly possible.
