The Tivoli
‘‘A WARM CORNER” AT TIVOLI Those who relish a hearty laugh—or rather a whole crowd of laughs—have a rare opportunity to gratify their taste in “A Warm Corner.” Based on the play of the same name which had a prolonged run at the Prince's Theatre, London, and played by practically the same cast, it is one of those sparkling comedies which have recently lifted British pictures into tho forefront of tho “movies,” and definitely established tho position of tho British studios. “A Warm Corner” scintillates with mirthful situations and witty lines, handled by tho greatest of British comedy players, Leslie Henson, while its rapid action and constantly changing and often elaborate sets, add to the general brightness. Briefly, the picture tells of the adventures of a millionaire eornplaster maker, named Corner, who slipped away from his doting but middle aged wife to the joys of the Lido. There he became entangled with a designing young lady. He bolted in a panic, when he found her to be married, but was followed home by her and a crowd of others who had all been witnesses of his carryings on. Thereupon followed a desperate attempt by Corner to keep his doings from his wife's knowledge. With each arrival from the Lido his plight became more agonising, and his efforts at concealment more outrageously comic, till he finally escaped by planting his escapades on a pal, who had really manoeuvred him into his “warm corner,” and, as he reckoned, deserved no sympathyl The picture runs along on a rising note of hilarity, and there is not a dull moment in it. At the matinee to-morrow “The Indians are Coming” will bo screened in addition to the progremme.
