GREAT YIELD IN AUCKLAND. PROVINCE. INCREASE OF 2.73 PER CENT. The vital importance of every possible effort being expended to increase the productivity of Auckland Province as a means of countering the effects of lower prices in the world’s markets is emphasised by examination of the dairying statistics for the season which ended on Juno 30, states the Herald. Once again, Auckland has capped previous records in the production of butter-fat. The season's yield was 132,841,0001 b., compared with 129,300,0001 b., in the season 1929-30, an increase of 3,541,0001 b., or 2.73 per cenf. Production first passed the 100,000,000 lb. mark in 1926-27.

Based on an average pay-out of Is 3d per lb. butter-fat, the yield of the 15/29-30 season was worth to the province approximately £8,081,000. The annual reports of the dairy companies indicate that Is per lb. can be taken as the approximate 'average return for the season just ended, and, on this basis, the return to the province would be about £6,642,000, or £1,439,000 below that of the previous season. The progressive increases in the production of the province durng the past five seasons are shown in the following table :

The main contributions to last season's new record were made in the early months of the period. July and August were a little ahead of the corresponding months of 1929, but September saw the production jump to 11,029,0001 b., or 2,333,0001 b. in excess of that of the previous September.' After the flush of the season had been passed there was a greater fall this year.
