Church Services
The services in All Saints’ Church to-morrow will be at 8 a.m., 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. At the 8 a.m. celebration of the Holy Communion the newly-confirmed will .make their first Communion.. All communicants of the paris are reminded that this is an occasion when they join the newly-confirmed in the highest service of -tho ’Church". Takaro parishioners are asked, to come to All Saints for their celebration so that all the parish clergy may be present at 8 a.m. in All Saints’.' - • The services to-morrow at tha Cuba Street Church -will be conducted at 11 a.m. by the minister, the Eev. J. D. McArthur, and at 7 p.m. by Bible class men, Mr. E. Aynton being the preacher. As usual, the junior choir will assist in the morning service, the adult choir in the evening. Mr. McArthur will preach at Longburn at 2.30. A cordial invitation is extended to citizens to worship at Cuba street. “If you have no Church home, make our’s your’s.” Mails which left Wellington on July 14th per Maunganui, via San Francisco arrived London August 13th. Members of the Girl Citizens’ Club will attend the service at St. Paul's Methodist Church, Broadway avenue, to-morrow morning. Eev. J. Ernest Parsons will be the preacher and his subject will be “A Colony of Heaven.” A children’s talk will be on “The *3t. Bernard’s Motto.” At the evening service the sermon subject will be “Tho Magnetism of the Cross.” The usual large congregations are anticipated at these services. Mr. Parsons will also preach at Aokautere in the afternoon at two o’clock. At the United Evangelical Church, Kosy hail, the pastor, Mr. Wesley E. Eichards, will preach at 11 o’clock on the subject of “Justification.” . In the evening at 7 o’clock his special subject will be unemployment, using the text, “No hire for man, nor any hire for beast.” Mr. Eicliards purposes to show that the scriptures, in the clearest possible way, have set forth industrial and economic conditions relating to these very days. , The Bible’s own statement in regard to its prophetic forecast is that it is a “light that shineth in a dark place.” It may therefore be expected that, if times darken any more, light will broak out of God’s word. Pastor Eichards extends a hearty invitation to all to hear this message. The services in St. Andrew's Church to-morrow will both bo conducted by Eev. G. T. Brown, M.A. In the morning he will preach on the subject of ‘‘New Zealand’s Obligations.” The evening subject will be a continuation of that dealt with last Sunday and will deal with the question of ‘ ‘ What Faith Does.”
At Emmanuel Congregational Church, Broadway, to-morrow, Pastor C. G. H. Bycroft will conduct both services. The subject at the morning service will be one of interest to all Christians; it will bo “The Christian’s Accent.” At 6.30 p.m. the meeting for prayer will be held, while at 7 p.m. Pastor Bycroft will continue his special addresses on the Book of Daniel, the subject being, the greatest prophecy of the Book of Daniel, “The Mystery of the Seventy Weeks.” It is impossible to overestimate the importance of this Book, for it is the key to all prophecy. The choir will render the anthem, and a very warm welcome is extended to visitors and strangers ,o the city to worship at tho Congregational Church.
