Enjoyable Card Evening.
There assenmbed at the school on Wednesday, a party of friends to <n;joy another of the jolly euchre evenings for which Makino iss noted. Throughout the winter months these sociable gatherings have proved a great boon not oidy to local settlers but also to others from the surrounding districts who have looked forward with pleasure to tho fortnightly tourney. On practically every occasion the prizes have been most generously donated by tho good folk who have regularly patronised the functions with the result that almost the entire proceeds go to swell tho hall funds. Tho substantial amount already set aside for the building is very gratifying to those who have worked so hard in the good cause. Wednesday evening’s prizes were given by Mr. and Mrs. W. Baker and Mrs. P. B. Simpson, and were won by Mrs. Tlutey and Mr. Peter Apel (firsts), and Mrs. ximer and Mr. Lano ((sealed). Personal. Mrs. IV Flutey, of Baetihi, who has been on. a visit,to her sister, Mrs. A. Dalzell, of Dannevirke, is at present staying with Mrs. A. Prouse, ‘ 1 To Kowhai,” Makino. Messrs T. Brandon and D. Cameron, who have for some time been resident at Makino, have roturned to their respective homes in Hawke’s Bay.
