Milson
The monthly meeting of the Milson Progressive Association was held at the week-end. Mr. H. Carter presided over a large attendance of members. Radical reforms in the administration of the funds derived from social functions were decided on. Under the new system, a percentage of all funds will be paid to the secretaries of the various active bodies, including the school committee, tennis, cricket and football clubs, a percentage being retained by the association for its own needs. Income from rents will,.as formerly, be applied to the reduction of the liability on the hall. The proposals were adopted on a four to one majority. A strong hall and social committee was appointed to deal with all matters concerning letting the hall and conducting social functions. Tho association decided to engage the services of an orchestra for the fortnightly dances. This, it is considered, should considerably increase patronage. Balance-sheets were submitted by the secretary for dances held on July 18 and August 1, each showing a satisfactory credit. The balancesheet for the annual smoke social of the association showed a small deficit, which was generously met by the committee.
Mr. and Mrs. H, Carter, of Gambridgo street, aro at present spending a vacation in Auckland.
