Popular Teacher Farewelled At Tea Party

A very pleasant tea party was held at the Broadway Lounge yesterday afternoon, when tne ladies' committee of College street school had as their guost, Miss King, who is severing her connection with College street school at the end of this term. Miss King has had a long and honourable connection with the school, having been on the staff for seventeen years, and she has now accepted an appointment at Waiwetu, Lower Hutt. Mrs. A. Hopwood presided over the gathering, and o n benalf of the committee, members expressed very sincere regret that it had come to a parting of tne ways, biie asked Miss King to accept a sweet nosy of violets, grape Hyacinths, winter roses and asparagus fern with violet ribbons, which had been made by Mrs. Pees, with every good wish for the future. Miss King feelingly expressed her thanks. . The tables were very daintily set out with autumn foliage and crimson berries and after a delicious afternoon tea had been enjoyed, Jean Curtis, a sweet little maid, contributed an operatic dance which was heartily appreciated. Mr. Gus Large presided at the Pl ln°*addition to Mrs. Hopwood there were present: Mesdames L. Bale, Z. Brice, H. Catton, R. Edwards, W. M. Huntington, A. McLeod, O. L. Mowlem,. Pearson, C. Pees, J. A. Smith, F. it. Tucker, G. Watchorn, Bowler Watson, A. Worboys, and C. L. Turnbull (hon. secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames F. N. Andrews, D. Barnard and J. H. Whyte.
