The Savage Korero in Aid of Relief Funds

Considerable curiosity is being evinced in anticipation of the Manawatu Savage Club’s public korero in aid of the Central Relief Fund, and those who attend the Opera House on Wednesday evening next will have their curiosity satisfied in the fullest measure. The programme to be submitted is one of considerable variety from curtain to curtain, and contains features which have never before been staged in Palmerston North. The opening scene, with its native atmosphere, will provide a fitting prelude, with a spirited haka and the preparation of a cannibalistic meal to the accompaniment of humorous dialogue. The play, “The Sheik,-” will be staged in a most novel fashion, and the cast for this item is a talented one. Another amusing item will be the military marionettes, with an “awkward squad” at physical drill. The club has amongst its members a very fine troupe of pierrots, who will contribute some bright numbers. The thought-reading seances of Savages A. Hutchins and J. R. Jcronison always intrigue their audiences. Rangatira Bert Jacobs and Savage Tom Simpson will be heard in their inimitable duets, and solo items will be contributed by Savages C. R. Luke and F. A. Wollermau. The Savage Orchestra, under the baton of Savage C. L. Mowlera, is a talented combination and wilt provide the overture and entr’actes, as well as accompanying some of tho concerted items. The box plan will open at the Central Booking Office on Monday at 10 a.m.
