PLUNKET SOCIETY. The monthly meeting of the Poxton sub-branch of the Pluukot Society was held in the society’s rooms on Monday afternoon. Mrs, P. Robinson tendered her resignation as president of tho society and this was accepted with very much regret. Members roforred in eulogistic tonus to the splendid work Mrs. Robinson had done for tho society and stated that it was through her unfailing efforts that tho society had made such wonderful progress. Tho secretary was instructed to forward a letter of appreciation. A letter was received from Mrs, Aitchison (secretary of the Palmerston North branch) on behalf of her committee, congratulating the Foxton subbranch on their spldndid achievement in erecting such a fine building free of debt and also of showing a good credit balance. The nurse's report, which showed that 79 visits were carried out during the month, was adoptod. Nominations were called for tho position of president, vice Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Adams was elected. Mrs. S. Austin was appointed delegate to the Palmerston North branch vice Mrs. Bain who has resigned. It was decided to forward a letter of thanks to the Foxton Borough Council expressing appreciation of their action in donating the sum of £2 2s to tho society and a vote of thanks was also passed to the C. M. Ross Co. Ltd., for their action in writing off a debt of £2 IBs 5d which was incurred by the society during the carnival. It was decided to hold meetings fortnightly instead of monthly as in tho past.

REMARKABLE WORKMANSHIP There is at present on view in the window of Mr. D. Ball’s shop in Main street, a particularly fine model of the large char-a-bane employed by Messrs Madge Bros, in the twice daily Palmerston North-Foxton service. The miniature “bus” is about two feet long and is mounted on a polished wooden Stand. In every minute detail it is a replica of the original, even to the mechanical traffic hand which operates in the same manner as that on the big bus. In its shimmering coat of aluminium paint the model is a striking example of craftmanship and reflects great credit upon Mr. Ben McNab, the popular driver of the bus, who constructed the model in his spare time.
