By-Elections in Canada
LIBERALS LOSE A SEAT. Received Tuesday, 9.2 op.m. TORONTO, Aug. 11. The Conservatives gained one and lost one in the two Ecderal by-elcctions to-day. Humphrey Mitchell (Labour) captured East Hamilton, a traditionally Conservative seat with, a majority of 3000 votes from M. M. Robinson (Conservative. In the constituency of Three Rivers Charles Bourgeois (Conservative) defeated Wilfred Gariepy (Liberal) by a margin of 251 votes. The Liberals held the scat for thirty years. The by-elections were caused by the deaths of former members.
