Advice that, in view of the serious inconvenience to tho travelling public by tlio periodical and sometimes lengthy blockage of tho Whirokino portion of the Foxton-Levin highway as a result of Hoods, it had been decided to convene a public meeting at Foxton to discuss what action should be taken to have tho road deviated and raised, was received at yesterday afternoon’s meeting of the council of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce from the Foxton chamber. Messrs. W. 11. Brown and F. W. Furby wore appointed to represent the Palmerston North body at the meeting.
Railway stations on closed braneli lines in different parts of Britain are now being used as dance halls, public houses, shops, offices, garages,. sports clubs and lodging houses.
