Question of New Schools in the City
INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL, OE JUNIOR HIGH":
"At the request of the Director of Education the headmasters of schools in the city arc required, in view of the possibility of an intermediate school being established at Palmerston North, to supply the necessary information regarding the location of children attending the various schools and these particulars are being obtained beforo the end of the week to forward to the board," stated Mr. E. Bary, headmaster of Central school in a report made at last evening’s meeting of the committee. Very little comment was made by committeemen on this subject but the chairman (the Rev. J. D. McArthur) declared that he had been informed of the likelihood of a junior high school being created in the city. Regarding the representations of Takaro residents to the Wanganui Education Board for a school to be eroeted in Cuba street extension the chairman commented that if such a proposal were acceded to it would undoubtedly modify the work to be carried out at Central. Mr. J. M. Pearson, however, expressed the opinion that this would not be the case as the future enlargement of Central school -would always have to be taken into consideration.
