It was announced at yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council that the Foxton-Levin highway via Whirokino was now open for traffic again. The highway has been under water for over a month, and sections of the road wore found to be extensively damaged Repair work is now under way, and Mr. H. V. Bond (county engineer) stated that the road was opened for through traffic yesterday. There were several big holes in the road approaching the bridge from the I'oxton end, and these would requiro a great deal of work to provide a firm foundation.
