Baby in Empty House
WOMAN PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO ABANDONMENT CHARGE.
Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 10. Violet Beatrice Moor, aged 29, domestic servant, married, but living apart from her husband, pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial on a charge of unlawfully abandoning an infant, which was found alive in an empty house ten days ago. The police said it was hoped that the child would live. The police also said .that the accused had made a statement and that she had intended to go back later and get it, but that she became frightened and did not go.
Another “Not Wanted”
EVIDENCE OF VIOLENT DEATH. AUCKLAND, Aug. 10. The body of a newly-born male child was found in a vacant section in Freeman’s Bay to-day. The body was wrapped in a cloth over which a paper was placed. A post-mortem examination showed that death was due to strangulation.
