Serious Situation Developed

REMINISCENT OF REVOLUTION BERLIN, Aug. 9. Although the day was quiet, late in the evening a serious situation developed and there were scenes reminiscent of tho revolution.

Four police are already reported to lave been killed by the bullets of the Communist demonstrators..' At least eight demonstrators have been killed, but many have been wounded, and tho number of dead rioters may be considerably more. The district around the Bulow Platz, where the Communists have their headquarters, has been cut off. Armoured cars with machine guns and searchlights are guarding the approaches. The police are breaking up all Communist meetings. Considerable tiring can still be heard. Alexandra Platz is also tlic scene of sharp fighting, which continues in complete darkness, the Communists tiring .volley after volley from the houses adjacent to the Bulow Platz, which the police occupy. Tho police searchlights are playing on the suspected houses in order to ascertain where to attack. The police, with drawn revolvers, cleared the Bulow Platz by marching out more than 1000 Communists with their hands raised.
