Another Armed Hold-up in City Suburb
Petrol Station Proprietor Robbed
BANDITS GET AWAY IN CAR
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Two armed men held up William Piere at a petrol .station at Sunshine Bay, Eastbourne, Early this evening. Tho bandits secured £5 IS/15 and cut tho telephone wires at the garage to delay the alarm. The bandits apparently had a car waiting round one of the many curves on the road, and after collecting the loot they disappeared in the darkness. Mr. Piere hurried to the nearest telephone, some distance away, and gave tho alarm. The road on which the robbery took place is lonely and comes to an end beyond Eastbourne, only a track continuing to Penearrow. At the Pctono end the only exit from the road can easily be watched and, provided the police were there in time, they would be ablo to ’intercept tho robbers’ car. It. is feared, however, that by tho time the alarm was given and tho police arrived the robbers would have passed this point and got away into tho maze of streets at Pctone, thence returning to the city.
