General Sir Gcorgo Richardson, late Administrator of Samoa, has accepted nomination as the Reform party's candidate in Auckland East. Mr T. B. Hoddcr, who recently spent some weeks in Toronto, will tell the Lunch Club to-day what he was privileged to observe in that wonderful city. Mr. E. W. Furby will preside. Mr. G. W. Wardrop, of Woodville, who has been an inmate of tho Dannovirkc hospital for some weeks, is now able to get about on crutches, his many friends will be pleased to know. Mr. Wardrop expects to be able to return to Woodville in about ten days' time. Mr A. .P. Wilson, stipendiary steward to the New Zealand Racing Conference, who has been resident in Palmerston North since taking up his New Zealand appointment, purposes removing to Auckland in the near future. The change has been necessitated by the retirement of Mr Angus Gordon, who formerly supervised operations in tho northern portion of the island. Mr. G. M. Moffitt, who has acted in tho capacity of buyer for tho Longburn Freezing Works at Marton for the past four years, has been transferred to Feilding and will take up his duties there in about a fortnight's time. During his residence in Marton Mr. Moffitt has taken a keen interest in the welfare of the Marton Golf Club and as captain of tho club his services were very much appreciated by tho members. Mr. George Childs, of Cuba street, Palmerston North, who was taken seriously ill just before tho commencement of a hockey match at Feilding on Saturday. afternoon last, passed away at an early hour yesterday morning at the Palmerston North public hospital, having failed to rally after being admitted on Saturday. The deceased gentleman, who was 52 years of age and who was well-known in hockey circles in the Manawatu, was the coach of the Palmerston North Central Old Boys' Club. The death occurred at the Auckland hospital recently oi Mr. Archibald Cox, a formor well-known resident of Woodville, and son of Mrs. Cox, Gladstone street, Woodville. The late Mr. Cox was born at Birmingham, England, and came to New Zealand with ins parents m 1874, arriving in Woodville 53 years ago. He spent his boyhood and early manhood there. He was a member of the early volunteers and a prominent member of the Woodville tfifio Club. For a number of years he has been an cmnlovcc of tho Auckland City Council.
