BUCK JONES IN “THE DAWN’ TRAIL’’
The spectacle of a woman torn between love for a man and a sense of duty has always possessed rajnantic interest. It makes little difference whether the duty involved is to her country or her family, or whether tho man she loves is worthy of her devotion or not. It is the spirit of the thing that wins the sympathy. An appealing depiction of a woman in such- a position is contained in “The Dawn Trail.’’ The girl in the case is June Denton, daughter of the richest cattleman in the Texas Panhandle district, and the man is Larry. Williams, the young sheriff of the county. ' When Larry learns that June’s brother is guilty of murder he has no alternative but to arrest him. As a result, not only tho Denton family but all the cowmen in the vicinity rise up in revolt. Juno is in an agony of indecision. Shall she remain loyal to her family and condemn the man she loves, or vice versa? After much thrilling dramatic action, a satisfactory climax is reached. But until it is reached you arc not awaro of what is going to happen. Tho conclusion is a surprise. This suspense was built up to envelop the picture in an atmosphere of tenseness. No less a person than that picturesque and daredevil rider, Buck Jones, is seen in the role of Larry Williams. June is portrayed by the blonde Miriam Seegar, recently seen in “The Lion and the Lamb” and “Scyen Keys to Baldpate.” Others in the cast are Charles Morton and Hank Mann. Christy Cabanne directed. The screening for to-morrow is “Ladies Love Brutes,” starring George Bancroft and Mary Astor. In this picture there is a society atmosphere, roaring comedy and a love story as warm and appealing as you will find in most Tomantic pictures. A matinee will be held to-morrow at 2.30 p.m.
