Mangatainoka Women’s Institute

There was a very largo attendance of members of the Mangatainoka W.I. at the meeting held in the library hall. Mrs. Walker (president) was in the chair and, after the business had been dealt with, a demonstration on tho making of paper Tope and a small cake basket was given, at the request of a number of now members, by Mesdames Walker and Morris, and Miss Roid. A “bring and buy” stall did good business. An interesting competition for the best darned stocking brought a large number of entries, tho winner being Miss Campbell, who was also awarded second prize. The judge was Mrs. Kelly. Later a play reading entitled “The Village Shop” was given by Mesdames Korrison, Walker and Rusden, and Misses Martin, Reid, Pryde and Harvey, and was much enjoyed. Afternoon tea was dispensed by tho hostesses, Mesdames Howell, Ross, Pilkington and Bieknell. The National Anthem brought a very pleasant meeting to a close.
