Ladies’ Hockey
MEETING OP MANAWATU ASSOCIATION At a meeting of tho Manawatu Ladies ’Hockey Association last evening Mr. F. Amos presided and the delegates attending were Messrs G. Ranson, P. T. Robinson, W. Lundy, H. Milne, C. Turnbull, W. Broughton, and D. J. Burge&Sj also attending Missos F. Highfield, W. Ranson, Ainsworth and H. Tarr. Before commencing the meeting a motion of sympathy was accorded to tho widow and relatives of the late Mr. C. H. Warden, who was an active worker in the interests of hockey when stationed in Palmerston North. Mr. D. J. Burgess was extended a welcome to this association, as delegate for the Horowhenua Sub-Association. Correspondence was received from the Horowhenua Sub-Association accepting Mr. D. J. Burgess as their delegate, also accepting game for the Harper cup, and that players would be available for the New Zealand Ladies Hockey tourney to -be held in Auekland. From tho Ruahine Ladies' Hockey Association, accepting challenge for the Nopera cup to be played at Dannevirke on Wednesday, also submitting namCtf of referee. Mr. Carson, of Dannev.irke, was appointed from the Dannevitke nominations, and the names of three referees were forwarded from the Manawatu Hockey Referees’ Association. From the ladies’ controlling body, asking for information ro fees and matters concerning team for Auckland. From the Star Ladies’ Hockey Club, Wanganui, askiiig for return game. As tho teams are engaged in other games it was regretted that the association was unable to accept a game. Nominations wore received for- the position of manager and chaperone for the team to Auckland, Mr. and Mrs. W. Broughton being appointed. General Business Owing to poor attendances at the night training it was decided to cancel use of the hall for training, etc. The coach was appointed to travel to Dannevirke with the team on Wednesday. Matters in connection with the game against Wairarapa, at Masterton, were left in the hands of tho emergency committee to arrange for transport on Wednesday August 19th. It was decided to play the team selected for Auckland against a local selected team, also C v. D for Hayward Shield.
An account was passed for payment to Horowhenua for assembling players for the last Harper tup game.
