Industrial and Aviation Exhibition

FINAL DAY. VISITING AIRCRAFT. Saturday, tho final day of tho industrial and aviation exhibition at Dannevirke, brought a record attendance. During the morning and early afternoon visiting pilots gave exiubitions of stunting and formation flying in tho afternoon over a thousanu people assembled at the airport to witness flying operations, ana a number of joy flignts were carried out, the proceeds going to pay tho expenses of visiting pilots.

At tho exhibition there was a continuous stream of visitors and many were tho words of praise for the excellence of the show.

From 7.30 p.m. the Municipal Band was in attendance at the side-showy and outside the exhibition, while from nine o’clock the Highland Pipe Band took up the running. After ten o’clock a power radio speaker gave forth dance music and a carnival dance was held until shortly before midnight. In bringing the exhibition to a close, his Worship the Mayor (Mr. M. D. Smith) thankcl those who had accorded the exhibition their patronage, the promoters had been most courageous in their venture, but it hail been an undoubted success. This, however, was just tho beginning and he was sure, tho public could look forward to something better next year. Visiting Aircraft.

(Wellington), Spartan Arrow (Mr. Petrie). Advice was received that Hamilton Airways, Blackburn Bluebird, was leaving Hamilton for Danucvirxe, piloted by Flight-Lieut. Kemp, but this machine did not arrive.

The visiting pilots and other aviation visitors were entertained to luncheon at Andrew’s hotel by Dr. G. S. Williams, president of the Dannevirke Gliding Club, and several of the executive.

Aviation visitors to Dannevirke during the exhibition included: Mr. J. D Campbell, secretary and organiser for the New Zealand Air League, which is affiliated with the Air League of the British Empire, and Mr. C. F. Castle, chief aviation officer to the Shell Oil Coy. In a well designed souvenir programme issued, the promoters of the exhibition express their thanks to the following for their assistance in making the exhibition a success:—Glbort. Power- Board’s prize for the best electrically-lightcd window: Blythe’s, Ltd., 1; Hallenstcin Bros., 2; W.F.C.A., Ltd., 3.
