Intoxication of Motor Driver
£25 FINE AND ENDORSEMENT OF LICENSE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 10. Alfred Richard Amey, motor foreman, aged 43, was lined £25 to-day for having been intoxicated while in ch- -ge of a car, and his license was endorsed. Counsel for Amey said that the latter had been sales manager for Dominion Motors for seven years. He was married and had five children, and counsel was authorised to say that if defendant could keep his lice se he could keep his position. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 10. After knocking down two girls in Rieearton road on Saturday evening, Alfred Edwin Smith, aged 49, motor engineer, was arrested. He pleaded guilty to-day to being intoxicated while in charge of a car and was fined £ls and costs. He was also ordered to take out a prohibition order. The condition of one of the girls is serious.
