MANAWATU REPS. DEFEATED BY SOUTH AUCKLAND SIDE.

Playing a challenge match at Hamilton on Saturday afternoon for the Brown .Shield, which has been retained by South Auckland for many seasons past, Manawatu failed to pull off the victory in a hard, fast game. It was hoped that the Palmerston North representative team, which has had a very successful career this season, would lift the trophy, but despite determined tactics it did not succeed, losing by three goals to two. Playing at Wanganui, the Manawatu primary representative team drew with Wanganui, the final score being two all. Tho team was as follows: —Helena, Petersen, Anderson, Young, Bradley, Wilds, Laing, Bacou, Broughton, Stewart, Wheatley. The reserves were Bresnahan and Bedell.
