Huge Wall of Water
WENTWORTH INUNDATED. HUNDREDS OF HOMES FLOODED SYDNEY, Aug. 6. The levee which was raised to keep back the Murray Hood-waters, gave way, and a huge wall of water swept across the settlement of Cv.rlwar into Wentworth. Both the southern and northern ends of Wentworth arc now inundated. Practically the whole of the town is surrounded by walls of sandbags, and tho levees aro being constantly pat- lied. The hospital is still in great danger. Hundreds of homes have been inundated. Levee Still Holding Received Thursday, 9,50 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 6.
Tho latest from Wentworth states that the levee is still holding, though the Darling river shows a record of 27 ft. lin., but lack of definite ncw,s from the upper reaches is causing anxiety.
