Manawatu-Oroua River Board Affairs
MONTHLY MEETING The Manawatu-Oroua Elver Bdard met yesterday in Palmerston North, Mr. W. S. Carter presiding. There were also present Messrs. J. E. C. Harrison, B. G. Gower, H. J. T. Hume, H. Barber, C. H. SpCirs, D. Rowland and B. J. Law. It was decided that any matters arising in No. 1 separate area in relation to batiks or floodgates be 16ft in the hands of Mr. Law, in conjunction with the settlers concerned. Several matters dealing with the leasing of land in the board’s area were dealt with. It was resolved that, in pursuance of section 17 of the Manawatu-Oroua River District Aet, 1923, the board acquire section 100 and part of sections 96 and 97, Moutoa, comprising 40 acres 1 rood 20 perches, at £32 per acre, on condition that access is provided to the land to the Satisfaction of a member of the board and its solicitor. A motion was passed authorising the levying of a special rate of 1/2 per acre in the No. 1 separate area for a period of 12 months from August 30. Notice of motion was also given, to bo considered at the next meeting, of striking a maintenance rate of 1/3 per acre on the No. 1 Separate area.
