First Grade Milk And Milking Machines

To the Editor. Sir, —A great deal of emphasis has been placed of late upon the need for cleanliness in milking both by hand and when using machines, the idea being to improve the quality of produce going abroad. I have heard a great deal about the merits of boiling water, caustic soda, etc., yet am informed by many “cockies” who profess to know, that there is too much attention being paid to all this talk. Could you give me as a new-chum, some reliable information through your fanning columns. I am, etc., “PRIMROSE.”

[This letter was referred to Mr. J. W. Smith, dairy instructor, who has kindly consented to deal with the whole position of milking machines and their cleanliness, in our farming columns to-morrow. —Ed., M.D.T.]
