REPRESENTATIVE MATCH BETWEEN MANAWATU AND HOROWHENUA A DRAW.

. A Manawatu representative team journeyed to Levin yesterday and met a Horowhcnua team and after an interesting match the game resulted in a draw, tho scores being eleven all. In tho first spell tho advantage waa slightly with Manawatu although Horowhenua showod more initiative. Play was kopt, for the most part, in Mauawatu territory, Manawatu handling the ball well and passing more crisply than Ilorowhenua. As the game progressed Horowhcnua improved. The first spell ended: Manawatu 7, Horowhcnua 5. The second spell - was much faster, both teams exerting themselves, and indeed some of the players showed signs of distress. Manawatu played with better combination and judgment. Tho final score was eleven all. Goals were scored for Manawatu by Miss Delaney (7) and Miss Collins (4) and for Horowhcnua by Mis s J.Mao Kenie (5), Miss K. Jarvis (5) and Miss Thompson (1). For Manawatu all the defenders. Misses C. Norris, L. Whitehouse and M. Titshall played well, other outstanding players being Misses J. Barrie and C. Davis (centres), also C. Dolaney (goal). For Horowhcnua excellent work was done by Miss Mary Coles (centre), Miss M. Macdonald (defence) ' and Misses K. Jarvis and J. MacKcnzie forwards. . Mr. Clift controlled the game. WINNER’S I IMPROVED FORM. Technical School “A” (20) defeat Foxton ladies' “A” (12). After the indifferent weather of the past few weeks it was good to be on the courts yesterday, when the Foxton ladies and Technical School teams met for the second time. Tho teams were:— Foxton “A”: Forwards, Mabel Parfett, Sylvia Williams, Jean Stcvonsen; centres, Joan Thynne, Ngaire Dunn, Myrtle Guy; defenders, Jean Foley, Myrtle Hughes, Jessie Crowe. Technical “A”: Forwards, Ngaire Blundell, Joyce Clevely, Eileen Woodd, centres, Margaret Marvon, Flo. Jones, Joan Thompson; defenders, Helene Clinton, Hay Hancock, Nina Offwood. Although Jean Barrie was absent from the Tech, team as she was playing in a representative game at Levin, nevertheless Technical scored a wellearned victory. Tech’s forwards rivalled Foxton’s both in passing and good handling and were more accurate than their opponents. Miss C. Vautier roferreed the game. Technical “B” (17) defeated Foxton “B” (6). Foxton “B”: Forwards, Lucy Thompson, Blanche Thompson, Francis Croon; centres, Rona Wishart, Connie McArtnoy, Zona McArtney; defenders, Iris Neville, Iris Foley, Joan O’Donnell.

Tech. “B”: Forwards, Joyce Harnts, Judy Christian, Eileen O’Donnell; centres, Gladys Palcnski, Joyce Shaw, Jean Winiata; defenders, Audrey Barron, Phyllis Eoddcn, Ina Kirkpatrick. The play wa s even for a time, but.the visitors lost the advantage although the visiting forwards had some exciting moments against Tech’s energetic defence. The home side was superior in all departments giving a particularly fine display, In both games Foxton'put up a very creditable performance. Aliss N. Wood refereed the game. After the game the Foxton and Technical teams were entertained to afternoon tea in the pavilion.
