Thought Husband Was in Another Woman’s House
BOTTLE HURLED THROUGH WINDOW.
STARTLED OLD LADY BREAKS THIGH. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Throwing a bottle through the window of a house in Douglas street because she thought her husband. was inside, May Lobb so startled an old lady 80 years of age, that she fell down anu broko her thigh. When Mrs. Lobb was charged at ttio Magistrate’s Court to-day with breaking two panes of glass, her counsel, Mr. F. W. Onglcy, said that sbo was very upset about the whole matter, and he asked Mr. E. Page, S.M., if he would permit the case to bo heard without the accused having to enter the dock. The Magistrate granted the request. “This woman, who was under the influence of liquor, thought her husband was in a certain house in Douglas street,” said Senior-Sergeant Edwards. “Sho became confused as to tho number of the house, however, and threw a bottle through a window of a house occupied by an old lady 80 years of age. The old lady was so startled that she fell down and broko her thigh.” The doctor reported that she was out oi danger, but owing to her age it was not certain what might happen. Mr. Onglcy said that tho injury to tho old lady had been done unintentionally and unwittingly. The Magistrate convicted the accused and ordered her to make good the damage, amounting to £3 11s.
