Soviet Police Raid Catholic Church
KILL, WOUND AND IMPRISON United Press Association.—By Electric •Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 7.0 p.m. WARSAW, Aug. 5. It is reported from Vilna that an O.G.P.U. detachment raided u, Catholic church in a village near the Russian frontier and shot dead seven worshippers, wounded 14 and arrested 145.
The leader of the detachment stated that he was informed that there was a meeting of counter-revolutionaries being held in the church. The troops got out of control when refused admission. The shooting has caused a panic among the Catholic population.
